Currently, What Is the Best Treatment for Craniomandibular Osteopathy? ?

Question by proteinchemist333: Currently, what is the best treatment for Craniomandibular Osteopathy? ?
My scottie was just diagnosed with this. Apparently he has a sever case of it. I am currently giving him the Non-steroidal Anti-inflammatory drug Rimadyl and the pain killer Tramadol. He will be neutered after tomorrow.

Is there anything else I can do? Does anyone know of any CMO specialists out there that I could contact?

Does anyone have a success story for a dog with quite severe CMO? Does the bone usually regress allowing for more jaw function?

Any info you could give me would be very appreciated. Thanks.
5gr8k9s: Thanks for the info. Like I said he’s only 6 mos old so I hope he makes it to a year w/o his jaw fusing to his skull otherwise we’d have to put in a feeding tube and that would be bad times.

Others: Thanks for the advice to ask my vet but I have already. It’s a very rare disease that there is currently no cure for. No one really knows how to deal with it for sure, but I’d like the most info possible.

Your vet know it better, but maybe you can ask another vet.
